Case Studies
Dianna’s systematic, science-driven approach has helped many clients to live life on their terms again.
Here are a few of their stories. Please note that the names have been changed to protect privacy.
Case Study 1: Alice
Alice is a 55 year old female. She suffered from high cholesterol in her early 20s, and had a hysterectomy due to excessive bleeding. The hysterectomy resulted in severe hormone imbalances, and a year ago, Alice was diagnosed with EPI (Exocrine Pancreatic insufficiency). When an individual has EPI, their body is missing the enzymes it needs to digest food, which causes important nutrients to pass through the body unabsorbed. Symptoms can include diarrhea, gas and bloating, unexplained weight loss and severe stomach pain.
Alice’s doctor wanted to put her on $5000 medication which she would have needed for an extended period of time. Instead, she sought out an alternative and came to Pure Health Restored.
After an initial consult I recommended a Spectra Cell Micronutrient Cellular Blood Test so that I could dig into what was going on with Alice. I discovered several functional and borderline micronutrient deficiencies.
I recommended a few supplements to balance her GI and adjusted her diet to lower and balance insulin to improve metabolic health. I also recommended ozone therapy, biomagnetic therapy, infrared sauna, compression, and red light therapy.
Alice was an amazing client and followed my recommendations. Within 3 months, she was greatly improved and her lab work is almost back to normal.
Case Study #2: Jeff
Jeff is a 13-year-old boy who has struggled with ADHD and bedwetting for years. Jeff’s immune system was compromised resulting in frequent illnesses and school absences. He also experienced severe mood swings and disciplinary issues due to his inability to sit still and concentrate. This also took a toll on Jeff’s family. His mom felt guilty for wanting her sweet child back.
Mom took Jeff to numerous doctors and specialists but the root cause remained elusive. She then found Pure Health Restored (PHR) and decided to work with us. Given the breadth of issues, PHR conducted a micronutrient test. The test revealed significant deficiencies as well as leaky gut syndrome. It was also discovered that Jeff was also exposed to food toxins at school, which elevated his estrogen levels and exacerbated his ADHD symptoms.
PHR implemented a holistic treatment plan, including:
- Micronutrient supplementation to address deficiencies and gut-microbiome balance.
- Alternative therapies such as red-light therapy, ozone therapy, and EE system treatments.
- Dietary adjustments to eliminate exposure to harmful food toxins and additives.
The results were nothing short of extraordinary. Jeff’s symptoms began to disappear within 3 months and are still improving. Jeff became more pleasant and focused and he is now a straight A student!
Jeff’s case highlights the importance of a comprehensive approach to diagnosing and treating leaky gut and its associated conditions. By addressing micronutrient deficiencies and reducing exposure to toxins, significant improvements in overall health and well-being can be achieved.
Leaky Gut Syndrome is a common issue with many people and can cause a variety of symptoms. For more information, check out our blog post.
Case Study #3: John
John is a 55-year-old male struggling with gut issues since he was in his early 30’s. He came to PHR with the primary complaint of tinnitus (ringing in the ears) which eventually led to significant hearing loss, necessitating the use of hearing aids. John had tried several healing solutions before engaging with Pure Health Restored.
Upon meeting John, it was immediately clear that his symptoms needed a comprehensive PHR approach. He was diagnosed with severe dysbiosis, leaky gut syndrome, metabolic syndrome, high cholesterol-triglyceride levels, and tinnitus. A micronutrient test further revealed a functional deficiency of zinc, a critical element associated with tinnitus. He also had high levels of H. pylori and low levels of beneficial gut bacteria, such as Bifidobacterium and Akkermansia. John was told by previous doctors that his hearing loss was irreversible and due to hair cell damage. We believed it was actually a neurotransmitter problem linked to gut health and low levels of Bifidobacterium.
To address his condition, a multi-faceted treatment plan was implemented, including:
- Micronutrient supplementation with a primary focus on addressing zinc deficiency.
- Other therapies: Ozone therapy, cryotherapy, cold laser therapy, magnetic therapy, peptide therapy, and red light therapy.
- Diet and and other supplements: Customized to support gut health and rebalance the microbiome.
Within six months, John saw significant improvements in his symptoms.
- no more ringing in his ears
- no more bloating
- no more pain in his ears
- no more digestive issues (he had severe acid problems when he ate )
- hearing is improved and he even got new hearing aids
It is expected that John will continue to see improvements in his hearing as we continue to work on his gut issues.
John’s case underscores the importance of a holistic approach to treating complex health conditions like tinnitus. By addressing gut dysbiosis, correcting micronutrient deficiencies, and employing various therapeutic interventions, significant improvements in symptoms and overall well-being can be achieved. This case highlights the potential for recovery and improvement even in conditions deemed irreversible by conventional standards.

Case Study #4: Managing Celiac Disease through Nutrient Balancing, Gut Health, Liver-Focused Acupuncture, and Dietary supplements
Background
Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder triggered by gluten, leading to damage in the small intestine. Effective management often involves a gluten-free diet, but holistic approaches addressing nutrient deficiencies, gut health, and complementary therapies can provide additional benefits.
Patient Profile:
Age: 35
Gender: Male
Diagnosis: Celiac Disease
Symptoms: Chronic diarrhea, weight loss, fatigue, and nutrient deficiencies despite adhering to a gluten-free diet.
Initial Evaluation:
- Nutrient Deficiencies: Identified deficiencies in vitamin D, iron, B vitamins, and magnesium. Gut Imbalance: Dysbiosis with low levels of beneficial bacteria and overgrowth of harmful bacteria.
- Genetic Predisposition: Presence of HLA-DQ2 gene, associated with celiac disease.
- Liver Health: Elevated liver enzymes indicating liver stress or damage.
Interventions
1. Nutrient Supplementation:
Vitamin D: Supplemented to correct deficiency and improve immune function.
Iron: Supplementation and dietary adjustments to address anemia.
B Vitamins and Magnesium: Supplementation to support energy metabolism and reduce fatigue.
2. Gut Health Restoration:
customized Probiotics: High-quality probiotics to rebalance gut microbiota.
Dietary Adjustments: Prebiotic-rich foods (e.g., onions, garlic, bananas) to nourish beneficial bacteria.
Digestive Enzymes: To aid digestion and nutrient absorption.
3. Dietary Supplements:
Coconut Oil – Added to diet for its anti inflammatory properties and to support overall health
Cod Liver Oil – Introduced for its high content of vitamins A and D and Omega 3 fatty acids, which are beneficial for immune function and reducing inflammation.
Fish Oil- Supplemented to provide additional omega 3 fatty acids, supporting heart health and reducing systemic inflammation.
4. Acupuncture:
Focused on liver health, recognizing the liver’s role in detoxification, nutrient metabolism, and immune regulation.
Specific acupuncture points targeted to support liver function, reduce inflammation, and enhance digestive health.
Outcomes
Symptom Improvement: Significant improvements in gastrointestinal symptoms, energy levels, and overall well-being within three months.
Nutrient Levels: Normalized levels of vitamin D, iron, B vitamins, and magnesium.
Gut Microbiota: Improved balance with increased levels of beneficial bacteria.
Liver Health: Normalized liver enzyme levels, indicating improved liver function and reduced stress.
